Leonore Alaniz
I design fabrics for furnishings and apparel since forty-some years, when I apprenticed in Germany under Bauhaus–inspired teachers. We focused on blending the Arts and Industry. Today, with the same skills I explore how to integrate material and spiritual wealth: I weave and surface-design cloth, and develop waste-free sewing patterns for the apparel collection diagami. Since working and living in Leverett, I dedicate much time to botanical printing on paper. Thus, I portray and narrate the vitality of plants, their designs, and our relationship with them, especially here in the Happy Valley. To spread the joy of this art, I teach it to adults and youth.
