Chris Nelson
My pastel paintings are inspired by the natural beauty of thet the Pioneer Valley. I am lucky to live on several acres with meadow, forest, wetlands and a small pond. I paint not only the landscapes and flora but the creature that inhabit my world. This includes the wild animals- geese, ducks, birds, rabbits and any others whose images I can capture.
I paint my Lab, Nelly and her friends who come to play. A rich source of inspiration is my neighbors’ domestic animals – the Oreo Cookie cows, the sheep next door, and the horses down the road. Recently, I painted a person, but one with the naturalistic name of Cardinal.
